The book describes the creative way of the famous artist - nonconformist Oleg
Tselkov in the period from 1960 to 2002.
The book contains 200 reproductions of the artist’s paintings.
"I decided that if I find "the manner-method" for a face image, then I would use this
recipe for everything else: the landscape as well as the still life.
The first picture that was made in the framework of this self-creation had turned into a
nightmare: I had done it and reworked it hundreds of times in my dreams and in reality.
My future was looming through the picture.
And when it was born, it turned out that I had not found what I was looking for, for it was not a
"method-manner" that depicts everything, but merely an ugly face.
The character was terribly familiar. He was not beautiful, he gave you shivers.
I exclaimed: "Tselkov, you're a genius!" By the will of fate, I was the first artist to create an
unidealised face. The face that does not have anything from the God's face.
Since then, I have been thinking about the mystery of that face through my lifetime, but am not
finding the answer... It turns out that the faces that I'm drawing are a mystery for myself.
I do not understand them."
